The amount of data globally is growing at an exponential rate. Buried in it, there is knowledge to be discovered, but that can quickly become an overwhelming task for a human user. Traditional data analytics focus on database driven statistics like counts, sums and averages, which only get us so far. Machine learning promisses techniques and tools better suited for dealing with diverse data sources and parameters, which do not require much human intervention. And the best part - the bigger the data set, the better the quality of the results. This talk will give a beginner level introduction to some of the concepts and techniques of machine learning, as well as some examples of their application. (The session language can be german if it is preferred)
