What drives the development of Drupal 8 core and contributed modules? It's thousands of contributors all over the world. Many work in their free time, many work paid by their employees - all together driving the Drupal project forward via open source contribution. With Drupal 8, so called initiatives were founded to focus development of Drupal in areas such as Configuration Management (CMI), Layouts (SCOTCH), Multilingual (D8MI), Migrate or Views in Drupal Core (VDC).
